In this installment, meet Connor Fraser, Compass’s Superintendent, a builder whose lifelong connection to construction and passion for doing things right fits perfectly with Compass values.
Introducing Connor
For Connor, building has always been a family tradition. His father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all worked in construction. He grew up on job sites, watching his dad build homes in Montana. After high school, he started working on grain silos in eastern Montana.
A short time in college confirmed what he already knew. He belonged in the trades. Over the years, he gained experience in both residential remodeling and large commercial projects. That mix of work taught him the balance between precision and efficiency. He has brought that same balanced skill set to Compass for the past three years.
A Career Built Across the Map
Before joining Compass, Connor worked throughout Montana. He later moved to Portland, Oregon, in 2020. There, he joined a siding and window company that specialized in dry rot repair. The work took him across the entire state.
He traveled through cities such as Bend, Eugene, and Salem, as well as along the Oregon Coast. He also gained experience in commercial framing, concrete, and roofing. These jobs showed him how commercial construction differs from residential work.
Residential remodeling requires constant problem solving. Commercial projects demand planning and coordination. Connor learned to blend both approaches. That blend now defines how he works at Compass.
Finding the Right Fit at Compass
When Connor moved to Milwaukee to be closer to family, he interviewed with several local companies. Meeting Brett and William, Compass’s co-founders, changed everything.
He immediately felt aligned with their culture and vision. At Compass, “I am happy to wake up and to work and tackle these different problems and build something unique and custom for a client,” he said. The team’s professionalism and openness made the decision easy. He wanted to help the company grow while finding fulfillment in the work.
Memorable Projects: From Flooded Basements to Sun-Drenched Additions
Two projects stand out most for Connor.
