When this Milwaukee homeowner reached out to Compass, she wanted a way to bring more light and connection into her home. The owner had a makeshift sunroom in the kitchen, created with a plastic wall that cut off much of the room’s usable space. She desired a more permanent home for her extensive plant collection, one that would give her back her cooking space!
At the same time, the second floor had the potential for something more than just bedrooms and a roofline. There was previously an upstairs patio bumpout that featured little room for actually relaxing.

The home addition, in this case the new sunroom, flows directly from the kitchen, creating a bright and welcoming extension of the main floor. With tall windows on three sides, the space feels open year-round and makes the most of natural light and its benefits. The owner now enjoys this excellent spot for spending time surrounded by her plants and eating breakfast.
A Patio Designed for the Second Floor
On top of the sunroom, we built a spacious patio that connects to the second floor. This new outdoor living area offers a private retreat for relaxing or entertaining. From the upper-level patio, the homeowner can enjoy fresh air, open sky, and a whole new perspective of her neighborhood.
