Compass Construction & Remodeling is your Milwaukee-area full-service experience on a wide variety of project types. We specialize in full-scale restoration and remodeling updates that require organizing several different trades to complete. No matter the job, Compass is here for those who value a job well done above all else. From beginning to end, we’ll help guide you to a final design that is effortless and tailored to your needs so your project is done right, on time, and within your budget.

We started Compass to provide Southeast Wisconsin with a better construction experience than we have come accustomed to when working with “contractors.” Here are a few things you can look forward to while working with our team that we call the “Compass Difference”

  • Sick of no-show contractors? Don’t worry, we won’t hang you out to dry. We show up when we say we will.
  • Tired of contractors that never call you back? Yep, us too. We value communication with our clients above all else. When you call, we answer.
  • A single point of contact throughout the construction process. No managing a bunch of subcontractors and building inspectors. We’re here to make your project easy.
  • Not sure where to start? You can feel confident starting with us. We can guide you through the entire construction process so you don’t have to stress!
  • Overwhelmed by trying to design your own project? We have an interior designer to help layout the space and curate options for finishes & fixtures based on your style preferences. We can also handle any other design needs, including structural engineering, when required.

Brett Kash

Brett moved to Milwaukee in 2009 to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering. In 2014, Brett graduated with a B.S. Architectural Engineering specializing in Building Mechanical System Design and B.S. in Construction Management.

Upon graduation, Brett went to work for a North American Top 20 General Contractor, M.A. Mortenson Company, where he worked for 7 years managing large scale commercial construction projects. During that time he worked on and managed projects ranging in value from $10 million to over $700 million for a wide range of customers including Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, Aurora Healthcare, Kohler Company, Kohl’s Corporation, and Facebook. In 2017, Brett began investing in local real estate through rental properties and rehab projects including flipping houses. In his free time Brett enjoys running, biking, and weight lifting for exercise, traveling, snowboarding, playing with his 2 dogs, woodworking in his workshop, eating at local restaurants, and drinking Milwaukee made craft beer with friends (preferably at the biergarten). William Backes

William studied and graduated with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering specializing in Electrical Systems Design and a B.S. in Construction Management from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. In addition, he holds a real estate license.

Upon graduation, he proceeded to work in a large, fast-paced, technical environment; however, after much careful consideration, along with support from his family, friends and colleagues, William left his engineering career to focus full time on real estate. This successful career switch has allowed him to continue serving others, but on a more personal level. He’s helped many people from first-time home buyers to million-dollar investors find and fix properties that make sense for them.

Working on his own personal homes and investment properties encouraged William to get his own general contractor license. His experience with working and finding good, reliable contractors that he’d recommend to his own family and friends showed him that there was a true need in the greater Milwaukee area for a remodeling company that people can know and trust.

William enjoys golfing, camping, audiobooks and dining out/supporting local MKE restaurants. He and his wife Alex save old, historic homes in the greater Milwaukee area, cook dinners together, and enjoy taking their dogs Penny and Sammy on long walks by the lake.
